Zwei Grand Tour-Löwenskulpturen
Weißer Carrara-Marmor und Alabaster. Vollplastisch gearbeitete, durch die Medici-Löwen inspirierte Skulpturen, nach links bzw. rechts blickend, eine Tatze jeweils auf eine Kugel legend. Der Alabaster-Löwe auf niedrigerer, flacher, annähernd rechteckiger Plinthe, unterhalb altes Christie's-Etikett mit Nr. 842; der größere Marmor-Löwe auf länglich ovaler, gewölbter Plinthe. Schwanz jeweils rest. bzw. geklebt. H. 19,5 cm-21,5 cm.
Italian sculptor active 18th/19 century. Two Grand Tour lion sculptures. One alabaster sculpture with old Christie's label and no. 842 on the bottom; the other larger white Carrara marble sculpture. Each restored or glued tail.
