European Glass

Decorative and everyday glass from the Renaissance to the present day will be auctioned. Outstanding results were achieved in particular for baroque cut glass and Art Nouveau vases from the École de Nancy. A restituted Nuremberg baroque goblet by Georg Friedrich Killinger from the Boer collection, which was exhibited in the State Art Collections in Weimar until 2012 (EUR 9,500). An important Silesian footed lidded goblet by Friedrich Winter from around 1710 with a child Bacchus procession (EUR 9,000). A large Potsdam lidded goblet with figurative allegories by Gottfried Spiller from 1715-1720 (EUR 12,500). A rare Dresden gold ruby jug with gold-plated silver mounting (EUR 14,000) dates from the same period.

In the Art Nouveau glass category, several elaborately designed Gallé vases also became highly sought-after top lots. Around 1893, Emile Gallé created an important “Vase parlant” that featured verses by his favorite poet, Charles Baudelaire (EUR 72,000). Equally sought-after was Gallé’s “Les Ephémères” Art Nouveau vase in “Intercalaire” technique with masterfully cut butterfly decoration and original bronze base (EUR 65,000).

Murano glass objects by Venini and other important glassworks as well as designers such as Dino Martens remain in demand.

One of the sparkling highlights of the present is a large Swarovski dragon "Jinlong" from the "Crystal Myriad" collection in a limited edition of 300 pieces (12,500 EUR).
