HOME EXPERTISE
Period Furniture & Decorative Arts
Are you looking for something special and want to decorate your home individually?
Our extensive range of high-quality furniture, antiques and furnishings is unrivalled in the international context. Schloss Ahlden has been auctioning antiques at the highest level for five decades now.
Our range includes European furniture from the late Renaissance and Baroque periods, through Rococo, Empire and Classicism, Art Nouveau and Art Deco to modern design classics and the Memphis group.
German furniture art of the 18th century is represented by elaborately figural Brunswick master cabinets inlaid with tin and ivory (sales price: 50,000 euros and 72,500 euros respectively) as well as an Erfurt secretary à trois corps from 1760 with colored marquetry of haberdashery, shepherd and hunting scenes (sales price: 49,000 euros).
The early English Baroque interior includes a William & Mary Cabinet on Stand (sold for 12,500 euros). We also regularly offer courtly Rococo furniture by important French, Swedish or German cabinet makers. This includes a lacquer and vernis Martin chest of drawers by Francoise Rubestuck (sold for 77,500 euros) and a Louis XV chest of drawers by Jean-Francois Oeben (sold for 77,500 euros), both of whom worked for King Louis XV and Madame de Pompadour.
In addition to French Empire furniture, furniture from the German Classicism and Biedermeier periods is also regularly auctioned, including designs by Karl Friedrich Schinkel and works by well-known cabinet makers such as Friedrich Gottlob Hoffmann, Joseph Danhauser and Johannes Klinkerfuss, or a rare representative pair of chests of drawers with mirrors from the Hanover Laves circle (proceeds 45,000 euros).
Outstanding pieces of international Art Nouveau are the rare, extremely luxurious creations of Milanese Carlo Bugatti (sales of 119,000 euros and 46,000 euros). While the Art Deco furniture on offer is characterized by extravagance, the design classics by designers Le Corbusier, Mies van der Rohe and Charles & Ray Eames impress with their timeless elegance, functionality and comfort. Spectacular pieces by the Milanese Memphis group and postmodern designs by Fernando & Humberto Campana have set themselves apart since the 1980s.
Our extensive range is always complemented by a large selection of decorative objects, lamps, lights and chandeliers. The interior area is rounded off by precious carpets from Persia and China. In addition to antique collector's items in unusual room-size formats, museum tapestries are also presented, such as a late Gothic, Franco-Flemish tapestry with an Adoration of the Magi from Tournai (proceeds 30,000 euros).
